  • ...and I want to shoot every player in the Reds bullpen.

I don't think the city of Cincinnati would charge me with a crime if I did.
Unlike most other team sports, in which teams usually have an equivalent number of players on the field at any given time, in baseball the hitting team is at a numerical disadvantage, with a maximum of 5 players and 2 base coaches on the field at any time, compared to the fielding team's 9 players. For this reason, leaving the dugout to join a fight is generally considered acceptable in that it results in numerical equivalence on the field, and a fairer fight.

    • Nascarfn, what's with the Padres avatar? Did you lose a bet?

        • 2 Reds players have been named player of the week this year (Alex Gonzalez, Ken Griffey Jr.), the Reds are 4-9 during the week in which the award was awarded for.

Wow. That's remarkable. But I won't blame it on anybody... EXCEPT the Cincy 'pen.

            • You certainly can't blame Junior - he won the game tonight with a 12-th inning homerun #8 this year and #571 in his career.

              • It seems that each day of my life is the same. The Reds lose, a Bengal player gets arrested, I injure myself playing red rover (don't know how exactly), etc.

                • I'm just wondering, what teams out there have horrible bullpens, pretty bad starting pitching, mistake-full baserunning skills, practice bad defense, and can't hit a ball.

                  • The following takes place on a gameshow and is like my sig.

Host: When was the last time the Cincinnati Reds won a game?
Contestant 1: Are we talking about the Major League team?
                    Host: Yes
Contestant 1: I'm going to have to say they've never won a game.
Host: Wrong, Contestant 2, you have a chance to steal.
Contestant 2: Well, the Reds were founded in 1869 so I'm going to the half-way point and say 69 years ago.
Host: Wrong, just off, it was 100 years ago.

                    • As bad as the Reds bullpen has been, the Reds are 16-0 when leading after 8.

                        • This is my own personal rant thread now since no one wants to hear me anymore.

Anyways, is there anything more exciting then a player being thrown out of a game. Ray King got thrown out tonight by Tim McClellan and just made my day. No real rant or anything but just some shouting and some teammates holding him back.

I could rant about the Cubs, too. Petco Park is a pitcher's park, despite the Padres hitting 5 home runs in the first two games. Someone obviously hasn't told the Cubs that because they keep trying to hit everything out of the park. They're probably going to get swept tonight.

                            • "The pitcher could be anywhere between 18 and 70. He could be between 5-foot-5 and 7-foot-2. He could weigh between 150 and 300 pounds. He could have a broken arm or a broken leg. He could be dead or he could be alive. As long as he is left-handed, he is going to beat the Cincinnati Reds, especially in Great American Ball Park, even if he is blindfolded and on crutches."
