Maybe we should wait until the Crisp deal is actually made.

However, if we are to assume these are the lineups, I'd have to say it's very close. Boston's lineup still has a nice edge, especially with Manny and Ortiz (and really especially if Lowell bounces back), but Toronto has constructed for itself a nice little foursome with Wells, Glaus, Overbay, and Hillenbrand. So they've made up some ground in that department. However, I'll take Toronto's pitching. You got 5 guys in the rotation that can eat 200 innings, and a better closer than Boston has at this point. Halladay might be the best pitcher in the AL (he would likely have won the Cy Young last year if not for the comebacker injury). Burnett and Beckett cancel each other out, in that they both are young, have great stuff, but there are questions about their ability to stay on the field and attitude. Chacin is extremely underrated and had a very nice rookie year last year. Lilly is another underrated arm who can get into a grove and dominate for some stretches. Towers is also underrated - he pitched 209 innings last year with a 3.71 ERA; that's pretty darn good for 5th starter.

Overall, it's very close. If the Crisp deal falls through for good, then it will all depend on who the Sox trot out there in CF. With Crisp, I have to give them an edge. Without Crisp, I give the Blue Jays the edge.

I've added the parenthetical to the thread title, since it's not exclusively about lineups. Here's what I think the Yankees will start with:

        Lineup:

        6. LF, Hideki Matsui (or Giambi)
        7. C, Jorge Posada (or Bernie)
        8. DH, Bernie Williams (or Jorge)
        9. 2B, Robinson Cano

        Rotation:
        LHP, Randy Johnson
        RHP, Mike Mussina
        RHP, Carl Pavano
        RHP, Shawn Chacon
        RHP, Chien-Ming Wang

Unlike most other team sports, in which teams usually have an equivalent number of players on the field at any given time, in baseball the hitting team is at a numerical disadvantage, with a maximum of 5 players and 2 base coaches on the field at any time, compared to the fielding team's 9 players. For this reason, leaving the dugout to join a fight is generally considered acceptable in that it results in numerical equivalence on the field, and a fairer fight.

I think the batting Lineup may be like:

                              1. David Eckstein (SS-Leadoff)
                              2. Jim Edmonds (CF)
                              3. Albert Pujols (1B)
                              4. Junior Spivey (2B) - I won't expect much out of him though
                              5. Scott Rolen (3B)
                              6. Juan Encarnicion (RF)
                              7. Larry Bigbie (LF)
                              8. Yadier Molina (C)
                              9. Pitcher

Not correcting you, but I think this will be the batting lineup for the Cards.
