It seems like this is about the most so what offseason I can remember. No blockbusters, no real excitement. Is it me or are you in agreement?

When you say offseason, were you referring both to FA singings and trades? Or just one or the other?
There's currently this thread about trades. Should be merge the two? Please read Baseball Fever Policy and Forum FAQ before posting. 2007-11 CBA

Busy in Boston
Damon to the Yanks, little prodigal son Theo returns home, Manny being even Mannier. Not exactly ho-hum in beantown. The World Champion Chicago White Sox had some big news, most of it lousy. Big Frank turned out like a red-headed stepchild; Rowand the sparkplug traded for a likable stiff, and Konerko kept in the fold with a hefty contract.
Some of the more interesting things haven't yet happened: Sosa is still teamless, as is Rafael "Life is a snitch, and then you die!" Palmeiro, and Washington still doesn't have a concrete deal for a stadium or owner.
March will bring the WBC, something new for a change, and I'm more than a little interested, primarily to see how the Cuban National Team stacks up against their MLB laden opponents.
Not exactly the most exciting off-season, but certainly not as bad as say,'94?Last edited by trosmok; 02-06-2006, 12:14 PM.Baseball is a ballet without music. Drama without words ~Ernie Harwell

It seemed to me like an offseason rife with tension, anger, dread, anguish, betrayal, and other staple emotions of the long-running soap opera "As the Red Sox Turn Over The Roster".--Annie

It can never be 'hohum' when you have Baseball Fever to keep you informed, entertained and generally part of the game!!"A hot dog at the ballgame beats roast beef at the Ritz." ~Humphrey Bogart
No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference. ~Tommy Lasorda

I guess Damon to the Yanks being the big news is my point, he isn't exactly a Jr Griffey level player moving. His coming to NY reminds me of Steve Kemps arrival, although I hope for Yankee fans he works out better. I think the biggest , most decisive and impacting move is the Orioles getting a pretty fair pitching coach and the Braves on their own for the first time in their long run .

Venezuela on the verge
I always follow the Caribbean Winter League, particularly with the WBC fast approaching, and Venezuela can clinch today, or if they lose to the Dominican Republic, it will force a one game playoff between those same two clubs.
The Blue Jays are stoking up more than any team in recent memory; adding Bengie Molina, Troy Glaus, Lyle Overbay, A.J. Burnett, and B.J. Ryan. Lots of promise, let's see if they can really challenge for a post-season berth in the AL in '06.
My Cubs have revamped their outfield, adding what sounds like a Quebec trio: Juan Pierre, Marquis Grissom, and Jacque Jones. Also coming to spring training for the lovable losers are two wonderful baseball names: Angel Pagan
, and Will Ohman (man oh man!), plus Wade Miller. Finally, a big bye-bye to Corey Patterson, perhaps the change of scenery will finally get you over that Mendoza line threshold.

I think it was a pretty good offseason fo the Mariners, with our new catcher, our new pitcher, (we sooo much need pitching) and a few other acquisitons. I myself was very surprised that the Marlins had a fire sale, after their great season last year. Maybe everyone else saw that coming, but I didn't. I'm glad Pierre went to the Cubs though.....that'll give Derrek Lee something to bat in."He can get 10 hits in five at-bats." -Joe Torre, exasperated after seeing Ichiro hit a routine ground ball to shortstop and cross first with an infield single.sigpic

Our Tiger's offseason was pretty boring.
Todd Jones? I guess it's good to have you back.
Kenny Rogers? Pretty good, as long as his bones don't turn to dust on us.
The Verlander/Zumaya/Colon battle for spring training though has been fun to think about.
The whole offseason could have been more exciting, I agree.I like cranberry sauce.
