  • Around the Majors: Curt Gowdy dies

    1) Famed sports broadcaster Curt Gowdy died at the age of 86. Gowdy broadcast 13 World Series, 16 some star games, spent 15 years as the Red Sox play by play announcer, 10 years as the broadcaster for the game of the week and also did a lot of other sports broadcasting.

    2) The Cubs and Mark Prior both deny a Baseball Prospectus report that he is experiencing shoulder problems.

    Not the best, but still enjoyable

    Curt Gowdy was never one of my favorites, but somehow he remains linked in my mind with being the voice of the Red Sox first and foremost. The other memory of his lengthy career must be his call of Hammerin' Hank Aaron's #715. Rest in Peace, Mr. G, and hope to see you in the booth above that big diamond in the great beyond.
