I started thinking about this the other day after watching the coverage of Clemens on Capitol Hill. Does anyone else think that there is a problem with players who use their own personal trainers instead of relying on the consultation of the team trainer? A trainer who works for the team is going to know right for wrong, and therefore the player wont subject themselves to possible controversy later. I mean, it seems to me that Clemens thinks he is too good to use the advice and consultation of the team trainer.

So a trainer paid by the team wouldn't be tempted to administer PEDs? Where did players in the 1960s get their "greenies" from? I see a conflict of interest problem here. The team trainer answers to management, not the player. The decisions he makes might be what management wants instead of what is best for the players. Players should have the right to retain their own trainers, just as they have the right to see their own doctors.

If it was a trainer employed by the team who gave him something, Clemens wouldnt have this controversy around him, and would have a legitimate argument for his innocence.
