Management says they are going to "Watch it closely" and keep his throwing to a minimum although a "freak swing" could do it in ,too.
Pujols says" If it blows out it blows out"
Nice cavalier attitude from a guy who is way to big for his team to pressure

I posted the following on the Cards boards a few weeks back...... I'm sure it's the same story, although Pujols does NOT say, "if it (the elbow) blows, it blows."

On the contrary, I don't think he will play the full season.....

If the elbow barks at him again this season, Pujols vows to back off his workload.

The Cards can live with that. Josh Phelps ought to make this team as a power-hitting back-up and pinch-hitter. He could take some pressure off Albert and help him manage his nagging leg and elbow problems.

“If the same problem is happening this year, I don't think I'm going to play the whole year the same way,” Pujols said at the Warm-up. “I sacrificed my body.”

Pujols has met with Larussa (at the Winter Warm Up) to discuss ways to lessen his workload if the elbow causes problems.

If Pujols injures his elbow and misses significant time, the Cards will battle the Pirates for last in the NL Central..... behind the Brewers, Astros, Cubs, and Reds.

Yeah, this could be really bad for the Cardinals. If I somehow had say in this I really don't know what I'd do, risk worse in the future in exchange for still having him for the season, or try to convince him to get the surgery while throwing out the entire season? Tough choice there.

The season is lost anyway. This team may finish in last with a healthy Pujols. If he tries to play, and goes out in the middle of the year with surgery, the Cardinals will have two lost seasons. He should get surgery now!

at this point i think it would be most of a season. i wouldnt think it could be anything less than a 4 month rehab process. at that point, youre talking the allstar break.
