  • Koby Clemens takes Dad deep!

Thought this was a pretty cool story... You can bet that we'll see the young Clemens up very soon...

Roger Clemens' first pitch of his simulated game against Houston Astros minor-leaguers went over the left-field fence. Next time that batter was up, he got buzzed high and tight. Who was in the box against Rocket? His son Koby.
    WAR? Prove it!

yeah, i thought that was the best part of the story. on the very next ab, the rocket buzzes his own kid high and tight. that's classic.

I wonder what Mike Piazza has to say about this.

If anyone wonders where the Drysdales and Gibsons of yesteryear went, they need look no further.

Anyone else think this thread should be retitled?

Hmmm...I have a feeling dad may have grooved a fastball over the plate? Isn't Koby a catching prospect?

That is CLASSIC! I still hope Clemens (the dad) plays another year and signs with the Astros if not only so that this conversation can take place after September call-ups:

(Roger has just given up a homer, and his son has come out to the mound)
Koby: Listen old man, I gave you the signal for changeup, you did the heater, I'm the catcher, you listen to me.

Roger: Screw this, your grounded this offseason.

This isn't, the 1st time a father had to show someone who's boss on the mound.

I once read in the late 50s,White Sox ace Early Wynn made his son hit the deck in the batters box after digging in on him.

I'm glad i'm not the only one that thought that as well. Maybe change it to "Koby Clemens shows up dad in sim game" or something like that.

                        How about:

Koby Clemens takes Dad deep; Rocket blasts some Chin Music!

Anyway, re the brushback pitch, Roger said he'd been throwing at him since the father-son games, so Koby knows what's going on. Either that or Roger said he (himself) knows what he's doing. I should've caught that one closer.

Admit we all were thinking it.

I'm not much of a writer, so my apologies for the lame title.

BTW, I think that Koby is a 3B prospect...?

                              Yes, third base..

I hope Clemens Dad stays in the game; watching him and Koby in same game. Of course, the preferred situation would be Roger playing for Boston
