  • Him or Him?

Pretty simple game. I name two players/pitchers, you give about a couple sentences, stats, etc. why you chose that player, then you name two players.

    Curt Schilling or Kevin Brown?

  • #2
Perhaps I haven't had my coffee yet or need some help. Should I just go ahead and give info on Curt Schilling and Kevin Brown?

For "why you chose that player", should that follow my choice of players, or should it precede my choices?

I'm supposed to choose between Curt and Kevin, so that's who my "choice" is? Then I'd name another two sets of players afterwards?

Thanks, as I'm just trying to see how this game works.

Yeah, you say who you think is better, give some reasons, then name two players, and someone answers, gives their reasons, gives two new players, and so on.

I'll take Andruw. Better power, almost as good defensively, same on-base ability.

Mike Piazza or Ivan Rodriguez (over the course of their careers)?

Piazza. He has posted much better numbers in spite of playing in pitchers park while Rodreguiz has played most of his career in the AL's best hitters park. Easily outweighs defense edge by Pudge.

thome. more HR, hit's, avg, better defensively.

            tom glavine or andy pettitte?

and can we include non-active players?

Andy Pettitte, it was close, but I pick Pettitte becuase he edges Glavine out in postseason records: Pettitte - 13-8, Glavine - 12-15. Plus I think when both are retired Pettitte will be better overall.

              Carlos Beltran or Juan Pierre

Beltran. Carlos is good in almost every aspect but Juan doesn't have much power.

                Moises Alou or Carlos Lee?

I was away from the Internet this weekend, but I want to let everyone know that I'd take Cameron over any center fielder in baseball today. Andruw Jones and Jim Edmonds are two of the most overrated players in the game today, while Mike is one of the most underrated. What Cammy lacks in offense, he more than makes up for with his defense. He's the best fielder in baseball, period.

                  But, back to my choices...
                  Alou v Lee:
It depends on if you're talking long-term or right now. Long term, I'd take Carlos Lee because of the 37-28 age difference. Right now though, you could basically flip a coin.

                  Next...
                  Scott Rolen vs. Eric Chavez

                  P.S. This is really cool!

Andruw Jones is better offensively and defensively.

when andruw learns to quit swinging at every pitch between the two dugouts and quits trying to hit every ball for a home run, then he'll be recognized (at least by me) as one of the game's best.

anyway, as for the question at hand, it's a toss up, but i take chavez. better power and probably better glove.

                      larry walker or todd helton?

                        Helton in a landslide.

I think Hudson will end up having the best career. I'd be happy with any of them though.

                          Mike Cameron or Tori Hunter

Why do you say that? Because he makes more *spectacular* catches? Consider this...

                            (Que "Twilight Zone" music)

During 2 seperate games, 2 fly balls are hit to the exact same point on the field with the exact same trajectory at the exact same time.
Player A runs and lays out for the ball making a diving catch that is replayed on Sportscenter.
Player B puts himself into better position before the pitch and makes the catch look easy.

                            Who is the better fielder?

Defensive metrics aren't yet as reliable as their offensive counterparts, but pretty much any advanced defensive metric agrees that Mike Cameron is a better defensive center fielder than Andruw Jones.

Torii, better offense and the same kind of defense.

And since their birthday's coming up, how about we compare two of baseball's most similar batters:

                              Bagwell or Thomas?
