I find it funny that two of those players were exchanged for each other in the offseason (Hamilton and Volquez). Mario Soto has been telling the press how amazing Cueto and Volquez are. These are two guys who if they just throw the ball in the strike zone, they can win. I failed to miss Cueto's start yesterday but Volquez was very effective against the Phillies.
Unlike most other team sports, in which teams usually have an equivalent number of players on the field at any given time, in baseball the hitting team is at a numerical disadvantage, with a maximum of 5 players and 2 base coaches on the field at any time, compared to the fielding team's 9 players. For this reason, leaving the dugout to join a fight is generally considered acceptable in that it results in numerical equivalence on the field, and a fairer fight.

There's no surprise about Yunel Escobar, Zagi. He was an important backup to Edgar Renteria last season and now he'll be the starting shortstop.

        preseas primes

I am looking forward to watching a full season of the Orioles Adam Jones.

I wish the Giants had some great rookie I was excited about seeing this year. I guess I can still be excited about Cain & Lincecum, they are only 23.

Felix Pie still is recovering from surgery that corrected a twisted testicle, but should he be fine and starting at the beginning of the season.
          Another good CF.

Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker came as close as he could to saying Edinson Volquez and Johnny Cueto will be in the starting rotation. Baker was asked after Volquez's outing Sunday if Volquez and Cueto were separating themselves from the rest of the rotation competition.

            The biggest surprise to me!!
Last season Volquez and Cueto, together, played only 34 inn in MLB!!

              The News
Dana Eveland, who after throwing five scoreless innings on Monday, looks like a lock for the fifth slot in the rotation.
The A's team website announced on Tuesday that the right-hander will start in the first exhibition game in Japan. The rookie is 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA this spring.

                Angels: Adenhart impresses again

Nick Adenhart pitched six shutout innings, scattering three singles, walked two and struck out six on Thursday, reducing his Cactus League ERA to 2.89. He has 13 strikeouts against three walks in 18 2/3 innings.
                Our View
The 21-year-old prospect will open the season in Triple-A, but injuries or blow ups could find the young right-hander with the team by mid-season. Adenhart has no traditional fantasy value outside of deep AL-only leagues, but he shouldn't be available in Keeper or Dynasty formats.

                  Diamondbacks: Upton goes 3-for-3
                  The News
Justin Upton went 3-for-3 with an RBI against the Mariners on Wednesday night. That was his seventh RBI of the spring and he raised his average to .350.
                  Our View
He should have a firm grip on the starting gig in right field.

Surprised to see Yorvit Torrealba on that list. Best transaction in the off season for the Rockies is the one that didn't happen between the Mets and Torrealba. Anything above .250 is just gravy for this catcher. He is having a good ST and went 3 for 3 Thursday.

According to reports Hiroki Kuroda had his best start of the spring.
Felix Pie also locked his room - CF.

Pagan is poised to earn the starting job. He's .355 this spring.

White Sox: Ramirez hits grand slam
                            The News
Alexei Ramirez had a big day at the plate against Milwaukee on Wednesday as he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, with all four runs coming on a grand slam off of Ben Sheets.
                            Our View
He now has 17 RBI this spring and this was another strong outing for him as he battles for playing time, and ultimately a starting gig.
