  • Randy Johnson and Roger Clemens

Johnson trails Clemens in strikeouts by only 56. Assuming a healthy season, Randy should pass that number. Would Clemens comeback to try and keep his final numbers above Johnson's? This could be alluring especially if Johnson retires after this season. The guy is incredibly underrated in my opinion. He's done a lot of great things in his career even with the injuries.

If Clemens were to come back, would it be with New York or Houston? I would hope Houston wouldn't be so stupid, but I'm sure McLane would be happy to have something to boost a pathetic starting rotation (albeit at the anger of many Astros fans).

I just hope that the Big Unit reaches the 300 win plateau, he deserves it.

Randy Johnson, when he was healthy and on top of his game, was awesome beyond belief. Same with Pedro Martinez. To me, those two guys belong with Roger Clemens and Greg Maddux as the greatest pitchers of our era.
I AM SO THANKFUL FOR BEING BORN IN NEW YORK AND FOR BEING A FAN OF ALL NEW YORK SPORTS TEAMS

Of the "big 4" pitchers (maddux, clemens, johnson and pedro) of the 90's Johnson does seem to get less of a mention than the others, but his peak was just as good as pedro's and even maddux's. Pedro had the ERA, maddux had the wins and IP's and Johnson had the strikeouts. Clemens never had such a brilliant peak, but was very good for longer. I hope Johnson reaches some big milestones because he clearly deserves them.

I can't believe Johnson's age and health will permit him to do what no other non-knuckleballer or non-spitballer has been able to do (i.e. win 16 games in a season).

I hope he overtakes Roger. I much prefer the Big Unit to Clemens.

Johnson may or may not overtake Clemens, but Clemens won't be able to anything about it in any case.

There is still the possibilty of Clemens pitching this year.

Yeah, maybe. Even if he does, I'll bet it won't make a difference for Randy Johnson's final ranking.

clemens peak with toronto was brilliant... 198 era+ combined for both years...two cy youngs...two triple crowns...of course he was juiced out of his mind...but if you ignore steroids his peak with toronto is brilliant.
