We will be as optimistic here as it is possible to be about our favorite teams, convinced that they can win it all until they either win the World Series or are mathematically eliminated. Then, there's always next year.

I remember watching the last Dodger game of the year. It was the 8th or 9th inning. Vin was talking about how baseball is like the seasons. It begins in the spring, when everything is new and reborn. It thrives in the dead heat of summer, and ends in autumm, when everything dies down and prepares for winter.
That being said, I can't wait for March 31st!Originally posted by bhss89"Hi. My name is John. I'd like you to meet my fastball. Can you catch up to it?
Didn't think so. I'll see you again tomorrow night around the top of the ninth."Originally posted by ChineseDemocracyWhy can't they just air the doubleheaders? Those programs aimed at children are crap anyway.

My team, the Yankees, I believe really have a good chance of WS glory. My other teams on the other hand, one is defunct, and the other has not won the WS for a record amount of years....

Okay, going by Win Shares, if every starting position player who has played a full season matches their career best, and Michael Bourn and J. R. Towles get, let's say, 10 Win Shares, that's 159 Win Shares right off the bat, or 53 wins. Now let's say we get solid pitching. That's another 90 win shares, or 30 wins. Finally, let's add 45 Win Shares from the bench. That's 15 wins. We're a 98 win team baby! That'll destroy the NL Central. Time the revive this thread, because our teams are all alive right now.
Yes, the 'Stros got shut out, but there were some bright spots. Out of the four hits the Astros got off Peavy and company, three came from new guys Miguel Tejada (2), and Michael Bourn. Berkman has a .000 BA, but a .500 OBP. Plus, we were playing in Petco against last year's NL Cy Young Winner. Some offensive struggles should be expected. We'll come around. Oswalt pitched well, 6 K, 1 BB, 0 HRA, but saw a lot of balls fall in for hits, suggesting a bit of bad luck. I'm getting this from stats, the game wasn't televised where I am. Maybe someone can fill in the details. But we can bounce back. We may be 0-1, but it's gonna take a lot more than that to take us out of this race."Any pitcher who throws at a batter and deliberately tries to hit him is a communist."

This game log is wicked cool. Pence hits the game tying single in the top of the ninth, then Berkman launches a three run shot to give the Astros a 9-6 lead they would not relinquish. Okay, yes, the Astros lost today, putting them at 1-3. But what is 1-3? It means nothing. I expect to see a 22 game winning streak soon, just like the Rockets had."Any pitcher who throws at a batter and deliberately tries to hit him is a communist."

My teams have only scored 13 runs Rockies(5)/Yankees(8) but that will change soon. If not, good effort is all I expect.
