  • MLB To Europe?

    http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...=.jsp&c_id=mlb

I say why not? However, if you're going to play around the world, I would prefer spring games as opposed to regular season games (I think I'm going to end up staying up all night watching tonight's/this morning's game)

Didn't think so. I'll see you again tomorrow night around the top of the ninth."

MLB is saying this for years. Every time I have high hopes, but every time it is a bust.

First I have to see it before I believe it.

The only country where they could play games without being bothered by the weather is Italy (maybe Spain). But their "stadiums" are not big enough to house a 30,000 crowd.

In the Netherlands they could only play in a domed stadium. We have two but they are made for soccer, so the dimensions are not suitable.

If they want to play during summer they can play in Haarlem or Rotterdam. But then again both stadiums are not big enough to house 30,000 spectators. Even with added bleachers.

I think all the revenue that MLB generates should be for the city's/states, that have MLB teams since MLB and owners use tax money for funding.

The good thing with Europe though is that a night game there is a day game here. Better than a night game there is a morning game here.
Unlike most other team sports, in which teams usually have an equivalent number of players on the field at any given time, in baseball the hitting team is at a numerical disadvantage, with a maximum of 5 players and 2 base coaches on the field at any time, compared to the fielding team's 9 players. For this reason, leaving the dugout to join a fight is generally considered acceptable in that it results in numerical equivalence on the field, and a fairer fight.

Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.-Crash Davis

Never see it happening. The NBA could pull it off though.

Especially in Southern Europe, basketball is quite big. They got big arenas there. So no problem in finding a suitable place for that sport.

No you don't. I meant all baseball's regular games should remain in the USA(Can). Just can't see other countries making a profit off of MLB teams since they dont have a nickel vested in taxes.
