Yes, you have right. The first stat is win, then ERA and at least SO.

You can see on my own math /CYP/ how it's work:

Standings according to CYP after a few games:

      Code:
      Felix Hernandez	Mariners
      Daisuke Matsuzaka	Red Sox
      Jon Garland	Angels
      Kevin Millwood	Rangers
      Rich Harden	Athletics

      Jake Peavy	Padres
      Brad Penny	Dodgers
      Ben Sheets	Brewers
      Carlos Zambrano	Cubs
      Matt Cain	Giants

He deserved 2005, but what other one was he robbed of?

He certainly didn't deserve it last year where he was 7th in ERA and 6th in innings pitched.

Nor did he deserve it in 2003 when he pitched only 158 innings (Pedro, Halladay, and Hudson were all much better).

Maybe I exaggerated a bit, but if Johan had a competent offense behind him last year and had won 19-20 games he would have been easily in the top three, rather than being simply an afterthought. The only real difference between him and Beckett was that Beckett had an offense that allowed him to win 20 games.

Players not on this list who deserve consideration as possibilities whose viability as a candidate will be based largely on the fortunes of their team:

                  Roy Halladay
                  A. J. Burnett
                  Jose Contreras
                  Fausto Carmona
                  Scott Kazmir
                  James Shields
                  Zack Grienke

Not yet. McGowan's got great stuff and I love his fastball but he hasn't put the full package together yet. Besides, he'd probably be crowded out of consideration by more veteran pitchers on his own staff like Halladay anyway.

After 9 games, standings for the Cy Award according to CYP is:

                            Code:
                            AL
                            0.26	Daisuke Matsuzaka
                            0.17	Joe Saunders
                            0.11	Brian Bannister
                            0.11	Cliff Lee
                            0.10	Felix Hernandez

                            NL

                            0.31	Jake Peavy
                            0.29	Ben Sheets
                            0.18	Oliver Perez
                            0.16	Kyle Lohse
                            0.10	John Smoltz
Matsuzaka and Peavy are the leaders.
                            CYP = (10*W-2*L + SO + IP - 30*(ERA+WHIP)) / GS/2

How about Trevor Hoffman..... ok im joking, who knows its young to tell, someone could always get hurt, Peavy is something else to watch though, Santana is great and may end up with it this year in the NL, the AL well I think Bedard merits serrious consideration.

Verlander at 0-2/6.52ERA is going to have a tough go of it now. Same for Oswalt.
