Government interference in a private enterprise has occurred as long the game has been played. Baseball and its fans can manage without politicans.

Major League Baseball has enjoyed exemptions from various Federal Laws for many years. MLB is engaged in interstate commerce, and with Toronto in the AL, plus playing games in foreign countries, is also involved in international commerce.

Keep your house clean, and you have little to fear. MLB hasn't.

the majority of people when asked say they do not like government intervention...yet when in doubt they go for the government for help. as a somewhat liberal person I am not totally against government intervention...my problem is that people are not educated enough to really know what it means.

the common man does it a lot, but so do the wealthiest corporations with their corporate welfare.

baseball does not want the government messing with them, but if they were going under they sure as heck would go to the government for help.

Yep. It's gotten to the point where if there's a major problem, most people's place to turn to is the government. This is no different.
