Former Red Sox catcher John Marzano died today from falling down a flight of stairs and a possible heart attack. So sad for his family. My memory of him was when Clemens was pitching and Marzano was catching and a batter charged the mound with his bat and Clemens just stood there calmly while Marzano came racing from behind and tackled the guy before he got to Clemens. That memory has stuck with me for 15+ years.

I've felt awful all day after reading this this afternoon. I remember Marzi playing for the Mariners. I listen to him every morning while I work in the office on MLB Radio. I'm just bummed. He was an outgoing personality and a fun listen. I feel bad for him (obviously), but especially his family.

As a Phillies fan I got to watch Johnny Marz on Phillies Post Game Live and Daily News live. I enjoyed the insight he brought to the game. He exemplified the "South Philly attytood." He will be missed.
