As an Indians fan, I don't expect Lee to hold it together for the whole season. It would be nice, but, I really can't imagine that. He's given up 11 runs in his last three starts. 9 of those came in two starts ... but ... still. Plus, he could end up getting the C.C. treatment. Not a the Cy Young, but, very poor run support. The Indians bats stink. Thus, I pick:

Roy Halladay. Sure, he's only 6-5 (7-5 after tonight), but he's the type of guy that can finish the rest of the season really strong, maybe lose a couple of more games, but still end with 20 victories.

Brandon Webb in the National League.

That's what the write-in is for. At the time the poll was created, there was no reason to believe Volquez should be included.

You can easily click write in and discuss why as opposed to a complaining about someone else's effort.

    No Volky?

There was some serious "Zambo theater" as we call it going on last night. His reactions when he gets in a tight spot are hilarious. He's almost like a "pitching Manny Ramirez". He caught the return throw from the catcher barehanded, not once, but twice. At the plate he was 3-3 with an RBI triple, raising his BA to .366.

I wish he didn't get so worked up because I think his emotion has always been one of the only things holding him back, but it's still fun to watch.

Oh no! Webb has 2 losses now! I guess according to your logic Zambrano is better now because he only has 1 loss.

I mean, you do think win-loss record is a big deal right?

Totally agree! Look at Roy Halladay, record of 5-5 with 5 complete games, 3 of which he lost thru no fault of his own. With any decent offense (Blue Jays and Offense are mutually exclusive so far this year :disbelief he would have an 8-2 record. The man is a workhorse who leads the majors in CG and IP and is right up there in SO.

Can someone please let me know when anything had ever been decided for the season in baseball, anything at all, in April and May.

No one is saying Webb isn't a good pitcher. He is an excellent pitcher. But w-l record is not the sole indicator of performance, or even a very good one. It's . . . passable.
