  • Hard Luck Halladay

    There is no one I pity more in the whole MLB. Four straight complete games.... 3 losses ...

    1 run, 3 runs, 0 runs. It sucks for him sure, but maybe he needs a little more offense behind him.

      Good thing the Jays gave him a win today...I think he might've snapped and killed someone otherwise.

        Wait, which Doc Halladay are we talking about?

I didn't realize that that was the only day." - Moonlight Graham

          Refreshing to see a pitcher that wants to toss 9 every time he go's out there.

            I'm sure everyone wants to toss nine. They just can't. Halladay has had about 110 pitches in all those games. That's very efficient.

              Wow, thats incredible...could you imagine how many complete games Halladay would have if he pitched in the early 1900s? I give him lots of credit. It really is a shame to see him get so little support, he could be considered one of the best in the game if he got more support.

                Uh, Halladay is considered one of the best in the game by just about everyone.

                  Halladay = WORKHORSE!

                    It's funny...Halladay seems to be more of a workhorse than he actually is. Not that he's not a workhorse, but he's an extremely efficient one. He leads the majors in pitches per inning with 13.1, ground-ball outs with 102, and his highest pitch count this year is 117.

                    That said, he's actually on pace for 298 innings this year-he won't get close to that, but it's amazing to even be on pace for 298. The IP record in the last 10 years is 266 in 2003 - by Halladay. All that and he has 30 complete games since 2003. Consider that 21 major league teams do not have 30 complete games since 2003.

                      I mean, he'll be in discussions with Peavy, Webb and Santana. At least the discussions Ive heard he wasnt mentioned, but he should be.

                        He's also had hard luck with injuries, in 2005 he was lights-out but got hit in the elbow with a ball. Then last year his appendix burst.

                        Close, AL maybe, but Randy Johnson had 271.7 in 1999 and Schilling had 268.7 in 1998 if we're not counting 2008 as the 10th season.

                        Other than that little difference he has been very impressive.

                            Yeah. He has a rep as being fragile because he's missed a lot of times, but he's actually been the victim of multiple freak injuries - wrong place at the wrong time stuff.
