I am embarreassed to tell that I am a Marlins fan. MLB had a good attendance day on Sunday, save the Marlins and the Rays, both of which combined for less than a combined 35,000 in attendance. That is pathetic for two first place clubs. But do not tell me that there aren't baseball fans in South Florida because every time the Yankees or the Red Sox or the Cubs come to town, attendance is significantly higher. I coached a Liitle League baseball team this year and not one kid was a Marlins fan. Of course all the New Yorkers (parents) made sure their kids were Yankees fans.

Undoubtedly because much of the population of Florida are expats from other parts of the USA. That is what would face Las Vegas if ever a team were to relocate there. I am sure other "new" franchises, such as the D'Backs where there are a lot of expats from other parts of the country are still trying to build their local supporter base.
