  • What Will the Commissioner Do To Bonds?/BREAKING NEWS: Bonds to be investigated!

Well, I heard some interesting comments on NY's The Fan yesterday regarding what they think Selig will do regarding this whole steroid issue and the records that have been and probably will soon be broken. I found it amusing that Chris Rizzo thinks that Selig will strike down the records as a show of force. This being the same commissioner who was reduced to tears when the all star teams ran out of players in a tie game.

anyway, what do YOU think BudMan will do?

He will do nothing because its too late to do anything. Anything done to Bonds right now would be wrong. If anything should be done to anybody, its Bud who should be fired.

News about Chicago Bears, Cubs, Bulls, White Sox, Blackhawks, Fire from the Chicago Tribune, including latest injury reports, roster moves, trades, scores and analysis, photos and highlights.

I'll believe this when I see it.

I think MLB will have a low-key, token celebration of Barry's "accomplishment" if he passes Aaron. No matter what Selig would like to do to Bonds, he is severly limited by what he CAN do to Bonds.

First, Selig can't do anything not permitted by the CBA. Second, the expulson of records would be unprecedented in baseball history (remember the famous "*" didn't remove anything). Third, you might be wise to wait for a confession or a positive drug test.

Taking advice from Chris Rizzo is similar to buying kool-aid from Jim Jones. Rizzo prooves the adage that "There is no more opinionated person than the ignorant".

nothing because, as kcghost said, he basically can't by the terms of the CBA. placing and asterisk along side would make it even worse and were would you stop...ruth, cobb and everyone before 1947 would deserve one. even if he is tested positive what could be done about records set before testing? the only thing that will stop him is if he gets hurt or he gets thrown in jail because of the IRS or a perjury charge.
My agenda: to eliminate the double-standard that so many thrive on

WHAT WOULD BE A "REVOLUTION" WOULD BE ACTUALLY CLEANING UP YOUR OWN MESS AND PROBLEMS, TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR PROBLEMS YOU AND YOU ALONE CREATED AND STOP BLAMING OTHERS FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS...NOW THAT'S A REVOLUTION.

Bud is the most ineffective, inept, meaningless Commissioner, equal only to Ueberroth. He will do nothing meaningful at all.

What COULD he do that is meaningful? Not that he isn't all those things you mentioned, but I don't know if this serves as a paramount example of his ineptitude. If anything, this is the RESULT of his ineptitude.

Letting MLB handle this investigation would be a colossal mistake.

Ok... what should be do then?

If you take his records away, you must take away records of anyone who is suspected to have used steroids... this would take forever, be very biased and make baseball a joke
