  • A Grand Tradition

Just read the President will be throwing out the first pitch in Cincinnati on opening day for the Reds, April 3 against my Cubs. No matter what you think about Dubya, it is outstanding that he will continue a time honored practice of the sitting prez officially opening the baseball season.

C'mon opening day, and go Cubs!:gt

On a side note, Bush will be the best pitcher on the mound for the home team that day

It will be even more grand if he does it for the Nats' home opener on the 11th as well.

Nothing like baseball in DC than the President throwing out the first pitch.

C'mon Astro, Aaron Harang has to be better than W.
Unlike most other team sports, in which teams usually have an equivalent number of players on the field at any given time, in baseball the hitting team is at a numerical disadvantage, with a maximum of 5 players and 2 base coaches on the field at any time, compared to the fielding team's 9 players. For this reason, leaving the dugout to join a fight is generally considered acceptable in that it results in numerical equivalence on the field, and a fairer fight.
