My dad's friend is George Sisler's grandson. That is a player connection of mine.

What does Joe DiMaggio have to do with the Phillies?

And if you're talking about Mike Schmidt, I have a few questions:

1) Why would anyone approach him daily, unless they're bill collectors?
2) How would you recognize a guy who's been on television or in newspapers maybe three times, total, in his entire life?
3) When you met him, did you just say: "I could hit .267 in the majors, and I've got no arms!"?
4) If you meet him again, could you ask him if he could get me Pete Incaviglia's autograph?

I believe the key word here is their, not the.

If DiMaggio played for the Phillies then he is sadly mistaken, but somehow I don't think that's the case.

I guess a better question is; why are you giving him a hard time because he met Mike Schmidt, if indeed he's refering to Schmidt?

I'm trying to imagine how it is you got flustered so quickly that you didn't read the post carefully.

If he met Schmidt and Schmidt remembered him, I'm quite impressed.

EH, Pete Inci only played for the Phillies for like 2 years didn't he? On a side note, I heard they're staring a new "game used" baseball card series in memory of some Phillies players. It's the "game used mullet" series. Locks of curly, greasy mullets will be placed inside the card. As a backup plan, if they run out of mullet material, they're just gonna splatter some game used tobacco juice on the card. Should be quite a collection.

Classic! This could also include some of Lenny's "Special Vitamins".

Back in 1990, I was working in a country club outside Philly and Lenny & Dutch Daulton came into the dining room and asked the bartender if they could get some sandwiches & beer to take on the golf course.

Our bartender, not recognizing them, told them they had to be with a member, or needed a member to sign, so gave them a hard time.
I recognized them, took them into the pro shop & asked them who they were guests of. They were friends of the head pro in a neighbor club (who got them on the course), so I asked the head pro's name and just signed and initialed the food order/checks.

Lenny was asking for "Beer with the screw-off tops that we can screw off on the golf course" (aka domestic beer, not needing a lid-popper). Not really able to keep a straight face, as he was motioning the gesture while leaning on the glass display/counter, I asked "What flavor, Lenny?"
They were real nice, hooked them up with some chic salad sandwiches & Bud and they were good to go!

A customer had me quote the cost of reupholstering her couch years ago. She showed me a photo of her grandfather who was a college pitcher in the late 1800's. I did some research, and upon returning gave her the ancestors ML stats and minor league stats. He played well in the majors for a year and then gave it up so he could earn a decent living. I have forgotten his name.

It was nice to share this information with her and her family.
