I think that the shoulder injury, plus his recent history, makes him suspect as being much of the threat with the bat, anyway.

Guy shoulda retired in the offseason when he still had his dignity. He's now a disabled $17 million nuisance to the Astros' championship hopes. The Q: Can the Cubs hold a 6-5 lead with 2 outs and nobody on in the 9th?
The A: No
***********My Rant on Bud Selig***********
Selig is like a stray pigeon. Pigeons are too self-absorbed to care about anyone else. They poo on people they don't like; they poo on people they don't even know. The only real difference between Selig and a pigeon is that Selig intends to bury our heritage, our traditions, and our culture,

Originally posted by rockin500probably not. if he doesnt play and i dont even think he thinks about that anymore, its covered by insurance.
Same thing happened to Albert Belle when he was forced to retire, insurance picked up the huge tab for his remaining contract.Best posts ever:

I admire him for wanting to play, though. I feel bad for him---he was a great player for a lot of years on the Astros. It's hard for a player of his talent to decline this quickly. It seems like just yesterday that he was bashing homeruns, making great picks at first, etc. For awhile, it just seemed like his production would never decline. Him & Biggio were permanent fixtures on that team.
Reminds me of Don Mattingly in a way. Such a great career, cut short by the back problems that he had.

What has happened to his dignity and how can you be so sure he has none?"I think about baseball when I wake up in the morning. I think about it all day and I dream about it at night. The only time I don't think about it is when I'm playing it."

sorry.
I still pose the question to kingj though."I think about baseball when I wake up in the morning. I think about it all day and I dream about it at night. The only time I don't think about it is when I'm playing it."

Well, he still has some left I guess, but trying to comeback even when there was no room on the depth chart for him really and he would just be a salary crunch for the 'Stros is a bad way to end a career. The team doesn't even want him anymore. The Q: Can the Cubs hold a 6-5 lead with 2 outs and nobody on in the 9th?

I just read an article on MLB.com. The whole team is crushed over Bagwell....especially Andy Pettite and Biggio. Pettite didn't hold anything back---he simply said that he hated it, and wished he could have played with Bags in his prime.
It's really a sad situation over there. No one likes to go out like that---it's better when you can leave on your own terms....and not be forced out like Bagwell. I feel bad for him.
