    On Pace

    After the first couple of games, it's always fun to do some figuring and see who's on pace for what number of hits, RBI, innings pitched, Ks, etc. Lemmesee:

    Big Papi is on pace for 162 homers and 486 hits and RBI.
    Mike Lowell, surprisingly, is on pace for 162 homers, too.

    Bonds won't walk once, nor homer at all, if this pace continues.

    Lets have some more numbers from around the Majors.

          The Phillies are on pace to get outscored 2,106 - 810.

          Barry Zito is on pace to give up 238 earned runs (I used his average GS per season, which is 34).

              The Yanks are on pace to get 2,430 runs and go 162-zip. Oh, and Randy Johnson is expected to be 30-0 with a 1.29 ERA.

                    Rollins is on pace to hit in 162 consecutive games, which will make last year's measly 36 games irrelevant.

                        Well, not anymore (thankfully)-- .167 with 162 RBIs

                          Realistically speaking, does anybody think Bonds' 73 HR record will be challenged this year? I just have a feeling. Pujols would be my pick.

                            I think someone will hit 80 within the next 15 years
