The problem with division winners only is a #2 team could have a better record than any of the other 3 division winners.

i think they should add one more wild card(in the american and national league)...then the two wild card teams should have a quick 3 games series, and then there would be four teams like the usual playoffs

Hello to everybody, if I have to put a 4 division alignment with the new expansion teams I have in mind, it would be the following:

    AL North:

    Chicago White Sox
    Cleveland Indians
    Detroit Tigers
    Minnesota Twins

    AL South:

    Louisville Colonels
    Kansas City Royals
    Tampa Bay Devil Rays
    Texas Rangers

    AL East:

    Baltimore Orioles
    Boston Red Sox
    New York Yankees
    Toronto Blue Jays

    AL West:

    Las Vegas Ramblers
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (name too long me hate it)
    Oakland Athletics
    Seattle Mariners

    NL North:

    Cincinnati Reds
    Chicago Cubs
    Milwaukee Brewers
    St. Louis Cardinals

    NL South:

    Atlanta Braves
    Colorado Rockies
    Florida Marlins
    Houston Rockets

    NL East:

    New York Mets
    Philadelphia Phillies
    Pittsburgh Pirates
    Washington Nationals

    NL West:

    Arizona Diamondbacks
    Los Angeles Dodgers
    San Diego Padres
    San Francisco Giants

The schedule will consist of 162 games, 14 games against the divisional opponent, 10 games against non-divisional opponents, no interleague play, back to tradition and basics, only the 4 division champions will qualify for playoffs in #1 vs. #4 and #2 vs. #3 format, the LDS will be a best of 7 format, also the LCD and World Series too, and home field advantage will be pivotal through the playoffs and World Series.

    Boston Norfolk*
    New York	Philadelphia
    Toronto Washington
    * = One of these cities could have the Marlins, then the alignment would change if it were P-Town or SA.

This is my updated alignment. Cubs and Cards are back into the same division. Enjoy.

You went ahead of me, but I put had Louisville over San Antonio as a future AL Expansion, and it will be called the Louisville Colonels.

Why not? I had a serious case of the off-season blues this year

I had the same discussion about four-division leagues about a year ago. Another advantage is that every team could have a set schedule; 18 games against each team in the division, 8 games against each team in the rest of the league and 3 games against each team in one division of the other league. You could never get away with putting the Cubs and the Cardinals in different divisions though. Here's how I would do it:

    Code:
    AL West NL West
    Las Vegas	Colorado
    Los Angeles	Los Angeles
    San Jose	San Diego
    Seattle San Francisco

    AL North	NL North
    Chicago Chicago
    Cleveland Cincinnati
    Detroit Milwaukee
    Minnesota	St. Louis

    AL South	NL South
    Kansas City	Atlanta
    Norfolk Arizona
    Tampa Bay	Houston
    Texas San Antonio

    AL East NL East
    Baltimore	New York
    Boston Philadelphia
    New York	Pittsburgh
    Toronto Washington

This is my proposal. By the way, I'm against the idea to expand the playoff format.

    Code:
    AL West NL West
    Portland * Colorado
    Los Angeles	Los Angeles
    Oakland San Diego
    Seattle San Francisco

    AL North	NL North
    Chicago Chicago
    Cleveland Pittsburgh
    Detroit Milwaukee
    Minnesota	St.Louis

    AL South	NL South
    Kansas City	Atlanta
    San Antonio*	Arizona
    Tampa Bay	Houston
    Texas Cincinnati

    AL East NL East
    Baltimore	New York
    Boston Norfolk*
    New York	Philadelphia
    Toronto Washington
    * = One of these cities could have the Marlins, then the alignment would change if it were P-Town or SA.

Both proposals have Colorado sticking out like a sore thumb. It is really a western team geographically
