  • Did you ever feel like you wanted to?

Did any of you guys take steroids during your high-school years?
Did you ever feel tempted or curious?

I am currently a 3B for my school, this is not a thread about me bragging.

I admit, steroids do tempt high-school athletes, they point fingers ''Barry BOnds takes steroids, why can't I? ''

Have you ever felt tempted to take steroids ? (I have not so don't think I did Troy ) or any PED to make you a better player?

    I am totally against it.
I'd ratehr live a long life as a mediocre 3B than be the best 3B and die at 45.

In College I played rugby for one of the Better teams in the north east (at least there were good when I was there) and I can say that not only were Steroids available but they were just about everywhere. In Rugby, especially in the position i was playing size and brute strenght can be a tremendous asset. So its was for me a constant temptation to just do a cycle or two for the season and see what happens. I was a very active guy and between Rugby practice, a martial arts elective, weight training and extra cardio I almost couldn't eat enough(including weight gainer) to put on all the weight I wanted. It basicly tookme till my junior year to get to the 5'11" 215 lbs with the level of conditioning I wanted. With Steroids I'm fairly cofident I could have put on everything I desired in one season. Me staying uninjured during that time was a different story. The things that kept me from doing it was the health/mental risks and the the fact that players who I looked up to when I was young on that team didn't need them. In actuality none of the people I played with took Steroid at least to my knowladge.

And as far the the external pressure, there were other teams that were on Steroids big time. We would always make a point of the certain teams that juiced. I was funny because back then some of the bigger guys on those teams were hurt alot and we never made the connection that the Steroids probably were the cause, we were just happy that we didn't have to play guys that were built like moose. To compete with them, we just had to execute better than them because there was absolutely not testing or oversite at all into this. But at least we had a way of counteracting the steroid use of another team. Once that ball leaves a pitchers hand he's powerless.

One thing I did try was popping a couple sudafeds before a game because someone said its helped. After ten minues I felt like I honestly was going to die. I felt like I couldn't get my wind, like I had no strength. It was awful. I once played with mononucelosis and it was not anywhere near as bad the day i took that sudafed.

I know its not baseball but its my own experience and I hope it helps reinforce your current opinion to rely on your own abilites.

Certainly not worth it. It's benefits do not outweigh it's negative side effects.

There's this highschool team called the Brookwood Bronco's in my county. Their coaches make them get injected with steroids, or they can't be on the team.

I know you're intelligent enough to make the right decision on this one.

Sounds like an uban legend. Do you know anybody that experienced that?

I was offered steroids my junior year in high school (1994), and didn't think twice before saying no, even though it would have certainly helped. There were others I knew who were doing them, but it wasn't for me. Same reason I've always turned down any drugs beyond mushrooms (only did twice) when the situation presented itself.

Come on i think somones taking you for a ride. Forcing kids to get steroid injections

I've never considered taking them, not really big over here, but i agree with Taco de Meurte that the side effects aren't worth it.

They might increase your muscle size but don't they decrease the size of something else
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you,

                  Yeah right

The only way I would take steroids would be if I was an old struggling power hitter with my best years behind me.

No I would never take steroids. Theres way too many bad sideffects and its not worth it. I dont want to go through that just to become a better ball player. Anyways I highley doubt it would be avalible in a small high school here in Vermont (28 kids in my whole grade)

Guys, If you think its unrealistic to think that adults wouldn't give steroids to kids take a look at this article.

UConn Health is dedicated to helping people achieve and maintain healthy lives and restoring wellness/health to maximum attainable levels. Welcome to possible.

And of course Steroids aren't worth the health risk for the average person playing sports.

Now if your in a contract year with Millions of dollars on the line in the Pre-or Joke stages of MLB testing a couple cycles could be worth a few million dollars.

No, its unrealistic to say that they would kick them off the team if they didnt take the steroids... because as soon as a kid would get kicked off the team because of it and they would tell their parents... then bye bye mr. coach

I know steroids are easy to get to, just like anything illegal... if you really want it you can get it within a week probably
