Unless he starts to play like a AA player I would never trade him... He is an inspiration to the team, apart froma very good player. Don 't forget he accepted a pay cut last year in order for the Braves to sign or resign players they wanted, so that the team stays competitive. 15 days on the DL do not rub out Chipper's commitment to the team, nor his performance over the past years.

Chipper Jones is the epitome of a "franchise player". You don't cut or trade your franchise player, especially during his prime. Chipper should retire as a Brave, or leave on his own terms.

On the flipside, why would teams trade for such an injury-prone player?
Not jumping the gun on things like this is one of the reasons why the Braves have been so successful for so long. The Braves will simply wait for Jones to get healthy. I'd be shocked if they do anything else.

First off, he has not been hurt that many times... Andruw Jones lacks the leadership of Chipper Jones... You cant teach a player to "stay healthy"

And they would be dumb to trade him right now, you wont get much value for him because of all the injuries he has suffered... if they were to trade him it would only make sense for them to do it after a full season where he stayed healthy and played well

How old are you and how long have you been following the Braves and Chipper? for his career Chipper has averaged 150 Games a season out of 162 and that counts the last two seasons that he has been injured. Exactly what would you want to get in exchange for Chipper he means far more to the team than simply being on the field.
I signed with the Milwaukee Braves for three-thousand dollars. That bothered my dad at the time because he didn't have that kind of dough. But he eventually scraped it up.~Bob Uecker

It would Andruw may be a franchise player, but so is Chipper. NEVER will Schuerholz trade him.

Doesn't know how to stay healthy?! What the hell are you talking about? Every single time Chipper was injured, it was for something that occured on the field by accident. Fouling a ball off of his foot hard, running into the outfield wall and slipping on mushy infield grass. All accidents. Saying he doesn't know how to stay healthy assumes that he's doing something to himself, like eating too much or not exercising.

How many players do you know that will take a pay-cut in-favor of the team.
                    Trade Chipper, I think not.
