  • 2012 Award Prediction Thread

Here are my predictions for the major award winners in 2012 (some stats included). What are yours?

AL MVP - Albert Pujols (.322/.409/.581 42 HR, 116 RBI)
    NL MVP - Justin Upton (.309/.387/.554) 37 HR, 112 RBI, 25 SB)

    AL CY - Felix Hernandez (16-7, 2.55, 227 K)
    NL CY - Josh Johnson (18-7, 2.39, 221 K)

I'm leaving out ROY, since I'm not up to date on all the rookies, but feel free to add that award as well as MOY if you want.

Wow, so far everyone besides me is picking Kemp as NL MVP. I know he's a great talent, but I expect him to take a step back from last year, now that he's gotten his money and is no longer playing for a huge contract.

Zito75 really going out on a limb there picking Kershaw and Verlander to repeat as the CY winners (I keed, I keed)

Yes indeed - I don't see better pitchers in either league. They are both young and getting better each year. Kemp will have a monster year - he's out to prove he's for real and doesn't need dope to produce numbers. He predicted a 50/50 year - that might be in reach.

His BABIP and LOB% numbers from last year are not sustainable, so he is due for a regression. plus, the defense could be worse with Cabrera at 3B and Fielder at 1B. I would look for a regression too, but even with a regression, he could still be a CY contender.

I don't think he will win 24 games again IMHO
