  • Changes Made to Drug Testing...

WASHINGTON -- Major League Baseball and the Players Association have closed the gap in the collection system that led to Brewers left-fielder Ryan Braun's suspension being overturned under the sport's Joint Drug Agreement, according to key officials with the league and the union.

"We made some immediate changes in the wake of the Braun decision and are discussing further adjustments," Rob Manfred, MLB's executive vice president of labor relations and human resources, said on Wednesday.

I love seeing MLB brass so butthurt over Braun being exonerated.

              From Miriam-Webster

              Definition of EXONERATE

              transitive verb

1: to relieve of a responsibility, obligation, or hardship

2: to clear from accusation or blame
              Number one? Yes.

Number two? Not yet and likely never.

I know it's likely to be spun as noble martyrdom but the reaction he's getting on the road speaks volumes about how he's perceived now and, barring something substantive, will continue to be.

Braun didn't help himself by throwing the specimen collector under the bus. Keeping his mouth shut and counting his blessings would have been a more sensible approach.

People don't like steroid users and even if Braun's exoneration had been more *ahem* tangible, let's say, he probably still would have been booed on the road. Bonds never tested positive for anything and he was booed like the Iron Sheik on the road.

And it's not like a team's star players are the most popular with opposing fans to begin with.

Bonds and Braun are not in the same class. Neither were the substances they took. Not even close.

that may be true for players who are known by the public to have used but there are hundreds of players who used whose names'll never be discovered... and plenty of those players get love from the fans.
