  • Cain was able

Matt Cain pitched a no walk 11 K one hitter today

The 1 hit broke up a perfect game with 2 outs in the 6th and was a solid single by the opposing pitcher

    Hobbs,

I'm pretty sure this is Cain's second career 1-hitter, at least, I think. Do you you know for sure?

So damn close to perfection. Only one baserunner and he didn't get past 1st base.

I'd say, however, that having the pitcher get the only hit would be argument enough against the DH.

No lack of run support yet this year either, Cain looked GREAT!

Yeah both him and Bumgarner looked great and as far as I know they both usually start out slow. Very good sign for the Giants that both had very imppresive starts. Hopefully Lincecum can start pitching better.

Cain's start was a heck-of-lot more impressive than all of the recent no-hitters where the pitchers gave up 4 or more walks.

This may well be his year. His career W-L record thus far has hurt his mainstream recognition, so I'd love to see public perception catch up to the reality of how good he actually is.

Bucs haven't been able to hit a beach ball this season so far. If I'm the Bucs "hitting" coach, I'd be fearing for my job right now. Cain was solid, but the Bucs helped him out with some bad swings.

Just a side note both Cain and Bumgarner had no hitters into the 6th broken up by the #9 hitter in back to back games, in Bumgarner's case it was a player brought in on a double switch

Of course I grab Lincecum for my fantasy team on the vaulted Giants rotation and he is the only one stinking up the place

I took Cain and Bumgarner but only because Lincecum was taken early. I never heard of Bumgarner till this draft. This is my first year ever doing a fantasy league.

there was only one team last season to have four starters with:
                              better than league average era;
at least 7 strikeouts per 9 innings.

the phillies? nope. but they had three pitchers do it.

as did the rangers and brewers.

bumgarner lincecum cain vogelsong was the lone quartet.
now you will not ever forget bumgarner's name.
