  • Do teams do scrimmages?

Sorry for lack of a better term, but do hitters take real pitches from their own pitchers? I mean, all I see is hitters taking soft pitches from coaches to hit and pitchers practicing pitches with no batters.
Using a stolen chant from Boston Celtics fans whenever an L.A. team is playing up there just reeks of inferiority complex.

If hitting a baseball is the toughest thing to do in sports, then pitching must be the easiest thing to do in sports.

Why would they need to? They play game 6-7 days a week...

there are "simulated games" where they face real pitching. but this is usually after an injury or before the season starts. also sometimes pitchers throw BP after an injury to get some work.

But in the season I don't believe they face real pitching. as it has been said before they play every game so they get enough stuff during the season.
however they hit some har stuff from the machine and MLB BP is pretty hard to compared to beer league BP. those guys throw it hard into the zone. if they throw it with 70 MPH from 40 feet you have a quite realistic speed.
I now have my own non commercial blog about training for batspeed and power using my training experience in baseball and track and field.
