The only time I've even thought of Dee Gordon is when Chip Caray called him a threat when he got on base against the Braves because of his speed. His OBP is atrocious, but I haven't looked much at him since I saw that fact, and I haven't heard about him significantly since then.

And I agree that Jennings is and will continue to be a much better player.
Sorry it took so long to reply M.

The MLB.com site were constantly having a picture of him up on the preview screen during spring training (st). The MLB TV network went out of their way to talk about him during st. They did this literally, for every game he played in. I did group together the MLB with other baseball sites (Internet) and baseball mags who couldn't stop talking about this kid.(I take your point, I did group them all together for added emphasis)

Maybe it didn't seem that way to you, which is OK. With no differing opin's., there would be no forums!

I got/get the feeling because MLB is trying to promote black kids to play baseball so badly, they went out of the way to sell that a good looking, normal(whatever that means) black person can be a star in baseball. The new face of baseball so to say. I think the power of the front office goes a long way, and perhaps they "leaned" on baseball outlets.

This may not be the real reason, but why was he praised so much otherwise?

He is an exciting player, i just dont know if he'll ever hit. He got thrown trying to steal in last nights game too. He's been caught quite a few times now. I'm kinda glad the Dodgers are sticking with him but I doubt they will for too much longer.

The league needs to stop promoting this guy and focus on the "next" speed demon who can hit, a kid named Jennings on Tampa. He reminds me of Crawford when he played there. End of rant
