How does Dunn do it? He's on pace for 243 strikeouts but he is also on pace for 51 HR AND 38 doubles. Both would be career highs. He's also on pace for 119 RBI, 94 runs, and 136 hits. So 89 of 136 hits would be extra base hits!

As late as June 21, 2005 Derrek Lee led the NL with a .390 BA, 27 HRs, 60 RBI.

Isn't it a little early for a Triple Crown tracker? I'd be more excited for Hamilton if he led in the Triple Crown in mid June like Derek Lee did in 2005.

I agree its gonna be tough for him to do. I think he can get the homeruns and rbi's but the batting average might be tough to get. Even the homeruns and rbi's might be tough because of his health.

Since he has a pretty nice lead in all three categories, and we're nearly a quarter of the way through the 2012 season, I don't believe it's too early to begin tracking this historic chase toward a feat that hasn't been accomplished since 1967. I will try to update this thread at least once a week with a list of the top 5 in the AL in each of the three triple-crown categories. As long as he stays in the hunt, let's keep this going, and hopefully he will pull off the improbable and we can witness some baseball history!

    AVG
    J. Hamilton .404
    D. Jeter .366
    D. Ortiz .345
    P. Konerko .344
    A. Jackson .331

    HR
    J. Hamilton 18
    C. Granderson 13
    E. Encarnacion 13
    A. Dunn 12
    A. Jones 12

    RBI
    J. Hamilton 45
    E. Encarnacion 34
    M. Cabrera 33
    A. Dunn 28
    B. Butler 27
