  • Umpire Bob Davidson suspended 1 game for confrontation -- ABOUT FREAKING TIME.

At last. At least a little accountability.

Kind of hard to argue with this...

Interesting; I thought from the thread title that there was one specific incident that I hadn't heard about, but it's "repeated violations of the Office of the Commissioner's standards for situation handling", whatever that is. Maybe somebody woke up.

Davidson was bad, but Ed Rapuano still has the biggest mouth of the umpires.

Joe West is no bundle of joy, either.

              Angel Hernandez is completely incompetent.

There's a difference between a bad ump and an idiot ump. A bad ump screws up calls. An idiot ump screws up calls and it's your fault for getting upset.

Good. All punishment is usually exclusively for players, which is wrong.

This ^^^^^ I dread games where he's umping.

                      And let's add this gem from today's Mets-Jays game. Instead of 2nd & 3rd, 1 out top 9 of a 2 run game it's man on 3rd, 2 out.

The ump has to be out of position if he can't see a tag miss by that much.

The problem is that when an umpire is in a good position to see one tag (or attempted tag), he's going to be in a bad position to see another one. If the throw was on line, he would have been in good position to see a tag right at the base.

He's got to move with the play. Yes there are times when it's impossible to see a very close play, but this wasn't close. Not as bad as the Helton play but pretty blatant.
