He's always had the stuff. But it's extremely tough for a pitcher to stay consistently solid all or most of the time. And the ones that do are apparently the ones that get noticed.

--I saw this game and Haren did look really good. The Mariners also did their part to help him out. The chased ALOT of sliders out of the zone - and the ump was calling a pretty big zone for both sides. Alex Liddi made his 1st (or maybe 2nd) start against a RHP this year and showed why he has been plattoned by fanning 4 times. It was Miguel Oliva's first game back from the DL and chasing those pitches is what he does best. Guess he inspired the rest! Eric Wedge really ripped the team's approach after the game. So yes, very good game for Haren, but I wouldn't neccessarily expect anything close to the same next time out.

Right - all you have to do is look at Halliday giving or 6 or 7 vs, the Padres a few weeks ago to know that any MLB team can light up any pitcher on a given night. When even the worst hitting teams score 3.5 runs per night, a shutout is great game.

Of course there is no way of knowing if it will turn his season around. Adam Wainwright had already had 2 "that is the start that will turn his season around" games, which were both followed by awful starts. He just had his 3rd such game, so we will see.

Yeah in my league whenever he played me I was almost happy to see him on the mound but now i'm gonna be a bit worried but like dominik said it was vs the Mariners. I pick up guys on Sundays who are pitching vs the Mariners.

great performance but it is the mariners who are not really known for their great hitting.

when he does it against texas I'm really impressed.
