D-Backs sign Miguel Montero to a 5 year, $60 million contract. I want his agent.

Honestly, I don't think he deserves 12,000,000/year for the next 5 years. The closest he played to a full season was last year with 140 games and last year WAS his best year to date, but there hasn't been enough consistency to justify such a contract in my opinion. Oh well, it isn't my team and it isn't my money. Besides, I can't say much, look at what the Indians gave Hafner. I'm so glad we are just about out of that contract.

The catcher's market is pretty anemic nowadays. Catchers of Montero's caliber are a pretty rare commodity.

I know it is a shallow position, but I still wouldn't give someone a contract like that unless they were aptly proven. Soto has very similar numbers to Montero and he is only making 4.3 million a year. There isn't too much of a difference between catchers outside of the top 5.
