  • Why do only Dominicans get caught lying about their name and age?

What about players from other Latin countries that produce MLBers (Venezuela, Colombia, Panama)?
Using a stolen chant from Boston Celtics fans whenever an L.A. team is playing up there just reeks of inferiority complex.

If hitting a baseball is the toughest thing to do in sports, then pitching must be the easiest thing to do in sports.

    NOT TRUE
out of ALL the players that come from DR
    that is less than 1%

it happens because a person is born in one place
say a home and has no record of birth
or is born in a hospital and get a written record of birth
then the parents have to spent money to travel to the the city or area court
where the records are made by hand and kept
and PAY a fee in order to get a birth certificate
that is money that most people don't have so they don't bother with it

before a player is sign he must have a birth certificate to prove his age
so the local dominican scouts/agent/seeker(buscones) do what they have to
in order to get that player the most money
MLB teams give out more money to a younger player than an older one
so if it means saying the player is 18 instead of 21 so be it
that a heck of alot more money for the player and buscones

this happens in ALL latin american countries
who know how old livan hernadez from cuba is
    or fernando venezuela from mexico

Puerto Rico is not a country, it is under U.S laws, system
so it does not happen there

    It is the common saying
you don't hear about the few
but you do hear about the many
there are so many players from DR
    compare to other countries
that when someone get caught chances are
    he is a dominican

Examiner.com is the go-to source for millions of people who want to know what's happening in their city. And we're still growing!

Roberto Hernandez changed his name and age for a chance to seek fame and fortune in the big leagues. He found both, but now he's paying the price.
