  • Long Term - Harper or Trout?

Short term Trout is currently winning this, offensively and defensively...however do you think this trend will continue or do you think Harper will be the better pro?

I think harper. trouts power will increase but I think harper is a guy that will hit 40-50 dongs a year while I think trout will be a high average hitter with 20-30 HRs (a hitter like abreu but a little higher average and a lot more speed).
I now have my own non commercial blog about training for batspeed and power using my training experience in baseball and track and field.

Isn't it strange that Tim Salmon and Mike Trout both played for the Angels. There's something fishy going on in Anaheim. What next, are they going to trade for Mike Carp?
      My top 10 players:

      1. Babe Ruth
      2. Barry Bonds
      3. Ty Cobb
      4. Ted Williams
      5. Willie Mays
      6. Alex Rodriguez
      7. Hank Aaron
      8. Honus Wagner
      9. Lou Gehrig
      10. Mickey Mantle

Hmmm...they're not even on the ocean, too...

I'm going to go with Harper based mostly on age. Bryce is over a year younger than Mike and is hitting much better so far this season than Mike did last year. Playing well in the majors at either one of their ages is a powerful predictor of maturing into a really good to great player, but I'll take the younger guy, anyway. I also agree with dominik that Harper seems to have more power potential.

Don't forget about Dizzy Trout, Chico Salmon, Sid Bream, Galen Cisco, Reyes Dorado, Chester Guppy, Art Herring, Melvin Mora, Lip Pike, Johnny Ray, and Mel Roach.

As for Bryce Harper and Mike Trout I think it's way too early to say who will be "better".

Trout and Trumbo are both great but Harper is scary good.

For arguments sake, I will say trout...the guy is truly an all-around player...far better defensively than Harper, plus amazing speed

Who wouldn't take either player? They are both great but since Trout is the old guy, I'll take Harper.

They are both pretty special players. I'd be more inclined to pull for Trout at this point, simply because I don't like Harper's attitude, but he's obviously going to be pretty damn good. Both are potential HOF material.

I think Trout will be a special player, a routine 5-7 WAR player.

Maybe Harper will as well. But, Harper has much much much more potential. This guy has a 153 ops+ at 19, and is currently sporting an isolated power rating that is above all but about 50 players ever.

I think Trout will be the better all around player while Harper will be the better power hitter, therefore Trout will be more valuable.

Trout offensively will be Jose Reyes and elite LF with A+ range
