  • Trade: Mets Trade Omar Quintanilla

He was a useful player during his time with the squad. Here's hoping he can help the Os...they've placed him on their 25-man roster. ...

The Orioles acquired Omar Quintanilla from the Mets for future considerations, Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com tweets. The Mets, who have confirmed the trade, designated Quintanilla for assignment three days ago to create roster space for Jason Bay.

Quintanilla, 30, has appeared in 29 games for the Mets this year, playing both middle infield positions. He has a .257/.250/.371 batting line in 80 plate appearances so far this year. The seven-year MLB veteran has a career batting line of .218 /.278 /.294.

They traded him for "Future Considerations"? The Mets need pitching, now, or their future is pretty bleak. They're not going to the playoffs with that bullpen, and now two of their starters are on the DL.
They call me Mr. Baseball. Not because of my love for the game; because of all the stitches in my head.

Yeah, isn't that like saying, "I'm gonna go see that concert." The ticket-taker says, "Well, let's see your ticket," and I reply with, "Well, let's see how good the concert is first."

This whole Quintanilla deal has me really bugged. DFA'd instead of being part of a direct deal is what angers me the most. I'm not against DFA'ing certain players (i.e., scrubs with little-to-no-trading value). I've been seeing it all season, and haven't had a problem with any of them until now. Omar had at least something to bring to the table. "Future considerations." Feh.
      Put it in the books.
