The Yankees have acquired Ichiro Suzuki from the Mariners in exchange for cash and right-handers D.J. Mitchell and Danny Farquhar, according to Jack Curry of the YES Network (on Twitter).

Well, the park is more conducive to offense. And Ichiro will need it with his .288 OB% and 83 OPS+. Thankfully, Ichiro is still a great defensive player, something the Yankees can use in their OF. Still an upgrade over Ibanez, of course.

By the way, the Yankees play the Mariners tonight in Seattle.

              Man, that's awkward.

I was just going to say Seattle1 must be on 24-hour suicide watch! Unbelieveable.

                  Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

                  :O

It's not even my team, but...no!!! Not Ichiro! I...I LIKE Ichiro--he can't become a Yankee!

He was that unique star who didn't play for a big-market team and was still well-known, he was...he's ICHIRO!

It's as bad as when Junior went to the Reds, maybe worse...they're the YANKEES!

Just goes to show, anyone can be bought and sold...say it ain't so, Ichiro...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

A much bigger deal symbolically than practically. I don't think the deal will hurt or help either team too much.

Knowing Ichiro will never win anything in Seattle, maybe many fans will be happy to see their hero go on to have a chance on a winning team, ala Phoenix fans and Steve Nash.
