  • Trade: Yankees Find Their 3B Replacement for ARod

Yankees acquired 3B Casey McGehee from the Pirates for RHP Chad Qualls.

    From multiple sources.

Eric Chavez has been really solid. I guess this is insurance in case Chavez gets injured, which he always does.
    My top 10 players:

    1. Babe Ruth
    2. Barry Bonds
    3. Ty Cobb
    4. Ted Williams
    5. Willie Mays

Agreed - as well as platoon. Chavez has shown ridiculous durability issues since his days in the 90s. I can see Eric playing the better part of the platoon since he's LHed, but this will ensure a couple of days off for him. Smart, very cheap move IMO for the Yankees. Qualls has been brutal this season (I know from seeing him for months) and IMO may have been out of baseball had he not signed with the Padres and rebounded his numbers in that park.

I'm surprised no teams are pushing hard for Chase Headley. His numbers away from Petco are All-Star level.

I've been begging for him to come to Philly since last pre-season. That's why I'm so bitter in the deals the Phillies have made today. I really think they could have added some cash in some of these deals and acquired better prospects to swing to SD. But I gave our GM too much credit (which is . much).

Last I heard, SD wants a boatload - including at least 2 top minor leaguers or first year kids with huge upside. Since 3B is a barren wasteland - and not going to get better during the offseason, I'd be all in on that. I love the .800+ OPS on the road.

No big loss. Seeing how Qualls most likely was going to be DFA'd when Joba comes back, this was the best outcome.

I would have really liked Headley but oh well. This gets rid of Qualls and Pena.

I'm sure he was acquired as insurance for both Chavez and Teixeira, considering Tex's recent injury scare.
