The Padres put Jason Marquis on the disabled list today. That makes him the ninth starter this season to go on the DL and only one, Eric Stults, has recovered to pitch again -- and he was a desperation replacement to begin with. That's nearly two entire rotations that have been lost. I've followed baseball for several decades, and I don't remember a team being hit that hard. Plus, closer Huston Street is on the DL for the second time.
