  • Boy, was I surprised

We've got about a month to go with the season. WITHOUT taking a look at the standings, what team would you guess has the best record in the majors? I guess I haven't been paying attention.
Mythical SF Chronicle scouting report: "That Jeff runs like a deer. Unfortunately, he also hits AND throws like one." I am Venus DeMilo - NO ARM! I can play like a big leaguer, I can field like Luzinski, run like Lombardi. The secret to managing is keeping the ones who hate you away from the undecided ones. I am a triumph of quantity over quality. I'm almost useful, every village needs an idiot.

That would have seemed a surprise at the beginning of the year, but they are only 2nd best (AND ahead of the Yank:flow: )

Well I just looked it up, and the Nationals have the best winning % in the majors. Not sure what you're looking for.

I'll tell you who it is. It's the frigging Nats. They have the best pitching staff in the majors.
46 wins to match last year's total

The team with the most wins has played 3 more games than the Nats.

True. I didn't say they were better than the Nats, but would anyone have guessed this? (thanks for no spoiler)

I thought it was the Nats, too, so I looked it up. I wouldn't have guessed it either.

Without looking it up, I'm gonna guess Cincinnati. (EDIT: I made this guess before I saw the post directly above mine)

My two initial guesses would have been A) Washington or B) New York had they not already been previously proven incorrect.

We like to keep a low profile. LOL

The 10-game winning streak the Reds had a few weeks ago didn't hurt...and that was done without Joey Votto.

So my question is: Do we all agree the Reds are the best team in baseball this year?

well they are certai nly good at beating weak teams

                              just a quick look

                              Astros 7-2
                              Cubs 9-4
                              Rockies 5-1
                              Padres 6-2

                              against the better teams
                              braves 5-1
                              dodgers 1-2
                              giants 4-3
                              nats 2-5
                              pirates 6-6
                              cards 6-6
                              1. The more I learn, the more convinced I am that many players are over-rated due to inflated stats from offensive home parks (and eras)
