  • 2012 National League Cy Young Award

So the question is, who do you think will win the 2012 NL CYA? I'm wondering how valid my vote for R.A. Dickey is, if only because I get to watch him work his magic on a regular basis. I'm imagining there are also many who see the other candidates regularly as well, so I'm probably worried for nothing.

I think Dickey should win it hands down. At this point, I think Cueto's the only other who stands a chance to beat him. I'll most likely chime in again after two more times or so around the rotations.

I think Dickey has got this easily as of now. Cueto would be second and I would probably take Chapman 3rd.

I voted for Dickey as well. Unlike Cueto and Gonzalez, he's winning and putting up great numbers on a bad team.

Don't see how they can't give it to Dickey.

I think Kershaw should be right there in the mix again, but there is a bias still for W/L.

Dickey and Cuerto are 1/2, with Dickey having the edge right now, but that can flip. I don't usually like to give it to relievers because I don't feel they make the same impact as starters due to the lack of inning, but cw1173 had a good thought with throwing chapman in the running - That .719 WHIP is crazy. Has anyone ever done that in 60+ innings?

I'd probably have dickey, Cuerto, chapman right now

Cueto - only 10 less innings, but a .015 lower ERA in a hitter's park compared to Dickey in a pitcher's park.

I think you have that backward - Citi is a pitcher's park and Great American is a hitter's park

I've noticed that Citi is scoring at a lower pace this year than last (and the year before), yet they moved the fences in. How do you account for that? How much of the park factors are attributible to the randomness of the product on the field in any given year?

Have you seen the Mets lineup?

Jason Bay is batting .160/.242/.302/.544 this season.

If Chapman is in, so is Kimbrel.

In any case, this race is far from hands down, for anybody. It's a wide open contest from several worthy candidates.

I personally think there should be a separate award for relievers. They pitch far fewer innings than starters and more often.

Kimbrel, for example, has pitched in only 49 innings. Dickey has 191 innings under his belt.

There is one. Rolaids Relief Man Award, but it just doesn't get that much attention.

The lineup was pretty bad last year, too, but I actually meant the park was scoring lower this year than last relative to league, meaning it is more of a pitchers park this year than last
