  • Chavez and a rod

It's been fun watching Eric Chavez this year getting more playing time due to the injury to a rod. After his first few years I thought Chavez had H of F potential, but injuries have turned that 180*. However, after seeing a rod return to the field, and run around like a middle aged man, I'm not sure the Yankees wouldn't be better off with Chavez at third and using a rod as DH? Anyway, it's a thought, what do others think?
Take a good look (at Jim Tracy), you won't see him for long! (my play on Drew Goodman's homerun call...)

If he continues to hit like he has, Chavez will continue to get his fair share of AB's against RHPs. He's a hell of a lot better than Ibanez, that's for sure.
    My top 10 players:

    1. Babe Ruth
    2. Barry Bonds
    3. Ty Cobb
    4. Ted Williams
    5. Willie Mays
    6. Alex Rodriguez
    7. Hank Aaron
    8. Honus Wagner
    9. Lou Gehrig
    10. Mickey Mantle

Ibanez has slowed down, but we have to give him some credit. At age 40 he may be getting a bit tired, originally his playing time was meant to be shorter. Gardner out made it neccessary to play him more.
Also, for some time he was very productive for a part timer and did get some big hits, earlier in the season.

The Yankees have so many part-time players (some due to injuries) it's amazing they are even contenders.
Lou Gehrig is the Truest Yankee of them all!

yeah their roster is a little strange. so many backup guys in the OF and IF. how many OFers do they have? like 6? most teams have 2 backup IFers, 2 catchers, and 2 OFers on the bench and that's it.

however they are quite old so they like to give a lot of off days to the veterans.
I now have my own non commercial blog about training for batspeed and power using my training experience in baseball and track and field.

Do you think Jeter should get more off days, being 38? He has played 139 games. Only Cano has played more, and that's only one at 140.
