  • MLB only major league w/o work stoppage in last 1 1/2 years

With the NHL lockout having begun, MLB is the only one of the four major sports leagues not to have a work stoppage in the last year and a half. Pretty amazing considering its labor history that MLB hasn't had a work stoppage since 1995 and won't until at least 2016.

Didn't the NHL lock out last season?

Can you tell that I haven't cared about hockey since Gretzky left the Oilers?
Not knocking the sport, just lost interest then...

When did the NFL have a "work stoppage" the past year and a half?
Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.-Crash Davis

It started in March of 2011.
After a 136-day lockout, the longest work stoppage in NFL history,
the union and league finally reached an agreement that financially
satisfied all parties, improved player health and safety, and avoided
        loss of any 2011’s games.

though it counts on paper obviously, fans dont care about a work stoppage (or even consider it one) unless the sport misses games.....and the NFL hasnt missed a game since 1987

They missed the Hall of Fame game a year ago.. I know it's an exhibition game. The work stoppage did screw up the season. And what about the referees missing the first two weeks? Lots of fans (and players/coaches) complaining about that!

Donald Fehr has ruined the NHL.
Using a stolen chant from Boston Celtics fans whenever an L.A. team is playing up there just reeks of inferiority complex.

If hitting a baseball is the toughest thing to do in sports, then pitching must be the easiest thing to do in sports.
