  • Congrats to the Nats!!!

Seventy-Nine years is a long time to wait for a postseason. For those of us into history, it's interesting to note that they did it almost to the date they did it back in '33.

Of course, we'll never know what a 1972-2004 Washington baseball team might have done. But for now, postseason baseball in DC is like a brand-new thing because there are few, if any, people left from when it happened the last time.

Congrats to the Nationals. First in war, first in peace, and maybe perhaps now first in the National League this year.
Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.-Crash Davis

Yeah that's great. first winning season in history and then directly such a season.

I knew they would be improved but I thought maybe 84-87. but now they are likely going to win about 95-96. that's huge.

I am pleased for the them - the first franchise I ever watched live (Expos in 1978 at Montreal Stadium)

No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference. ~Tommy Lasorda

Olympic Stadium perhaps you mean. I saw MANY games there. Before that they played at Jarry Park - small but a better park to watch baseball. Olympic Stadium was a HORRIBLE baseball stadium - unless you were right behind home plate.

Great job by the front office hitting on their draft picks, developing them and supplementing the team with the right players. And definitely by getting Davey Johnson out of retirement. All that guy does is win!

An 1-95 World Series would be amazing if it happens. :cap:

Its too bad that after doing such an amazing job building the team they decide to disgracefully tank their season for no good reason

Putting your fourth best starter on the shelf is not 'tanking the season'.

well if you go by ERA he might be their 4th best man but it is close and he was their best during the first half. given his stuff I'm quite sure he would have gotten the 3 spot. and even if not he could have been valuable as a reliever. you can never have enough pitching in the post season.

But I still wish them good luck in the postseason.
