Bailey pitched extremely well- stayed within himself, had excellent control. The Pirates had a couple of opportunities late- Alvarez lined to the left side of the infield- the Reds had the shift on, Rolens was the only infielder on the left side, and the ball was hit right at him. Snider, pinch hitting, hit one hard to left, but it hung up and was easily caught.

Great to see. Bailey had the future ace tag on him from the days he was in Single-A Dayton.

What a way to guarantee the Pirates won't have a winning record. One more loss and the Bucs will guarentee a 20th consecutive losing season.

The Pirates can't hit. Their lineup has too many batters with sub-300 OBP's and they strike out a lot. R.A. Dickey, for example, got 13K's in his start against the Pirates on Thursday and Pedro Alvarez alone went 0-4 with 3K's. The Pirates had ten strikeouts against Bailey in Friday's game.

                Garrett Jones against R.A. Dickey:

The SEVENTH no hitter this season ties the modern era tally. Great for Homer.

The Pirates and the Indians both did such incredible disappearing acts this season. It would have been nice to see the Pirates finish over .500. The Indians, not so much. The thought of Chris Perez feasting on humble pie is good for me, good for you, and for Chris...it's what's for dinner.
