How about OBP/R/SB? We could call it the leadoff triple crown.

I realized the other day that George Brett didn't just win his third batting title sitting down in '90, but he robbed Henderson of the running/scoring triple crown. Where was the outrage?

The Triple Crown of Hiking includes the Pacific Crest Trail - 2,468 miles. Appalachian Trail - 2,184 miles, and The Comtinental Divide Trail - 3,100 miles.
The Triple Crown of Bridge include wins at Bermuda Bowl, World Team Olympiad, and the World Open Paris Championship.
You need to know, don't pretend you don't.

So Cobb did it three times, It looks like George Sisler did it in 1922, Benny Kauff did it in the Federal League in 1914.
Has anybody else won the "Running" triple crown?
Ichiro in is rookie season and Henderson in 1990 came about as close as possible.

I found the source for the "Running" triple crown. It was Baseball digest Oct. 1985. I have it somewhere. That year of course Gooden won the pitching triple crown, and Henderson was in the lead in average, steals and runs around the time of the all-star break.

So with 2 days left he has steals and runs scored sown up, and a shot at the batting title which would give him the "running/scoring" triple crown.
No seriously, Baseball Digest had an article in 1985 about the pitching, batting and scoring triple crown winners. Cobb was listed as having 3 scoring triple crowns.Last edited by brett; 10-02-2012, 12:54 PM.Tags: None
