  • Mike Trout or Bryce Harper

If you were to build a team, considering what we've seen from this season on, who do you pick? Who has the highest ceiling. Who can carry a team?

I'd take Trout because of his blend of speed and power, but you can't really go wrong with either one of them. Both are going to be absolutely tremendous players.

I like Mike Trout alot but I have a feeling Harper will be better.

Trout, because he blossomed into a huge season first.

I wonder how long Trout will keep his speed? He's build like an NFL linebacker. I can't envision Trout still being super fast at age 33.

Its an interesting debate. What if this is Trout's peak? Kind of what happened to Eddie Mathews in 1953, Al Kaline in 1955, Norm Cash in 1961. A young peak. Really, you can't do better than a 10.5 WAR.

But what if Harper keeps blossoming. 22 Hrs in that enormous ballpark that the Nats have? He can have a tremendous career alongisde Strasburg.

What are the worse case scenarios? For them, I like Stawberry for Harper and Eric Davis for Trout. (BTW, how come WAR doesn't rewards Davis 1987 season deffensively when everybody back then raved about his deffense?)

What are the best case scenarios? Trout won't run like that forever, and that's part of his value. He'll surely maintain his deffense. And Harper? He's been maturing all season long, who knows his zenith?

To be fair, not many players can keep pace or improve their SB numbers and such after they reach 32. Only one I can think of off the top of my head was Brock.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see both have a setback next season. It's happened to the best - remember all the hype surrounding Bret Lawrie after what he did aftert his callup last year? But there certainly are some nice players 22-under in the league so far that show some really good promise, with Giancarlo and Heyward in the mix.

I could be wrong but Harper started out pretty well and kinda went into a slump and he is starting to pick it up whereas Trout seems to be slumping a bit and not adjusting very well. I just think Harper will adjust to pitching alot easier than Trout in the long run.

They're both unique players. Never seen before talent. What will define them is how they'll mature. With all the hype he had, and still produce in his teens, I think Harper will have a better career. Trout is going to have nice protection in that lineup though.

It's a very tough pick. I've been a Harper guy since the beginning so I'm gonna stick with him.
"No matter how great you were once upon a time — the years go by, and men forget,” - W. A. Phelon in Baseball Magazine in 1915. “Ross Barnes, forty years ago, was as great as Cobb or Wagner ever dared to be. Had scores been kept then as now, he would have seemed incomparably marvelous.”

Mike Trout. And Harper's personality doesn't help him, either
