  • News Media blowing things out of proportion

This year was the first time the 2-3 format for the ALDS & NLDS has ever been used and the news media is acting like it has been in place for ages.

While the comeback by the Giants to beat the Reds in the NLDS was very remarkable, it's somewhat puzzling that the news media makes such a big deal out of the Giants being the first team to ever overcome a 2-0 deficit in NLDS by sweeping games 3-5 on the road.
Holding a pitcher accountable for how many runs his team scores is like holding the designated hitter accountable for how many runs his team allows.

An individual statistic is meaningful only if it is based strictly on what the player does and not on what the other players on his team do.

Contrary to what most baseball fans claim, a pitched ball which is hit into play is not a strike.

no this is how it used to be in the early years of the playoffs, 2 games at one location, then 3 games at the other location

the 1982 Brewers, 1984 Padres and possibly other teams lost the first two games in one venue and then won three in another venue, it just so happens they were visitors first then home team second

the Giants are the first team to win three straight on the road down 0-2
    1. The more I learn, the more convinced I am that many players are over-rated due to inflated stats from offensive home parks (and eras)

I think the first year or two of the NL/ALDS had that format too. I seem to rememebr everybody making a big deal out of it when the Rockies won one of the two home games against the Braves in 1995.
